Murtovaara was once a lively centre of Southern Kuusamo, where the municipality even built a terraced house. The school, the shop and the courtyards of the terraced houses became quiet over the decades, but in the summer Murtovaara comes alive. Vacationers return to their roots and the artist opens his gallery to the public.
