The natural forests of Näränkä

The Näränkä natural forests, partially untouched by axes, are a rare natural site about 60 kilometres from the centre of Kuusamo. The nearest villages are Kurvinen, Teeriranta, Hossa and Murtovaara.

In the heart of the natural forests is the restored Näränkä wilderness farm. The courtyard with its buildings is a nature and tradition destination that tells about the life of a wilderness house that lived in a natural economy. Various demonstrations of traditional work methods, sheep herding activities, communal work and other events are organized on the farm.

The main building of the Näränkä wilderness farm, hosted by Metsähallitus, is used for accommodation and the grounds are available to every hiker.
