A village full of wonders

When you visit Käylä, you can easily see where the village got its name. Kitkajoki curves gracefully near the village. The Sámi have described this place rich with fish to each other with the word käulehk (curved). When the reindeer run in a curve, they käylää. So, let’s käylä to the village!

Käylä is full of wonders, they say. Tukkilaiskisat, rapids cafe and the legendary Korpihovi invite you to Käylä.

The village has a church, a school, and a shop; there was also a bank for a long time. Arriving in Käylä, you might find your way on the village track to, for example, a barber-hairdresser’s chair, a border region church, or happen upon Tukkilaiskisat.

Käylä is a strong village settlement and the centre of Northern Kuusamo. It’s conveniently along the way when you’re on your way to Oulanka National Park.
